The 8th International Symposium on Deep Sea Microorganisms and National Conference on Marine Living Resources, hosted by the China Council for Ocean Research (SCOR) and jointly organized by the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Marine Living Resources Professional Committee of the Chinese Ocean Society, and the Ocean Diving Branch, was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province from November 8th to 10th, 2024.
Since 2008, the International Workshop on Deep Sea Microbiology, organized by experts in the field of deep-sea microbiology, has been held every two years. Previous conferences have mainly been attended and hosted by renowned scientists and their teams in the field of deep-sea microbiology research from countries such as China, the United States, France, Japan, and Russia, and have had a profound impact internationally. The Deep Sea Microbiology Academic Symposium brings together scholars in the fields of deep sea microbiology and marine biological resources research. The conference focuses on the forefront of deep-sea microbial science, exploring life limits and metabolic mechanisms, analyzing the biogeochemical cycles in which microorganisms participate, and exploring hot topics in deep-sea microbial resource development.
